A good skin clinic in Basingstoke builds your plan around a medical consultation, not a treatment menu. Your doctor assesses your skin, agrees what you want to change, then combines and times treatments such as anti-wrinkle injections, fillers, peels, prescription skincare and laser so each one supports the next.
Key Facts
- At Skin Hampshire, every treatment follows a full consultation with the doctor who will carry it out.

- Profhilo is given as a course of 2 sessions, 4 weeks apart.
- Prescription skincare from Obagi and ZO is matched to your skin, from £85.
What is a personalised skin treatment plan?
A personalised treatment plan is a written route from the skin you have now to the result you want. It sets out which treatments you need, in what order, how far apart, what you should use at home in between, and when you come back to check progress.
It is the opposite of choosing a single treatment from a menu. Two people who both say “I look tired” may need completely different things. One may have dynamic lines from frowning, another lost volume in the cheeks, and a third dull, uneven skin from sun damage. A plan works out which of these is really going on before anything is booked.
Why does the consultation matter more than the treatment?
The consultation is where the plan is made, so it decides whether the treatment is the right one at all.
At our skin clinic in Basingstoke, nothing is booked until you have had a full, detailed consultation with the doctor who will treat you. The doctor you see is the one holding the needle or the laser.
That matters because the questions are medical. Your doctor needs to know about any skin conditions, medicines, allergies, previous treatments, pregnancy or breastfeeding, and how your skin has reacted to products before. Some treatments are prescription-only, which is why they are prescribed by a doctor rather than sold over the counter.
How is your skin assessed?
Your doctor looks at your skin in good light, often close up, and asks you to frown, smile and raise your eyebrows to see which lines move with your muscles and which are there at rest. They will look at skin type, oiliness, pores, pigmentation, redness, scarring and texture, and at how much volume and support the face has.
Just as important is what you tell them: what bothers you most, what you would not want to change, how much downtime you can take, and your budget. A good plan is honest about what each treatment can and cannot do. Anti-wrinkle injections soften lines caused by muscle movement, for example, but they do not fix sagging or sun damage, so those need a different approach.
Which treatments can go into your plan?
Most plans combine treatments that work at different depths of the skin. At Skin Hampshire, the options fall into four groups:
- Lines caused by muscle movement. Anti-wrinkle injections, the treatment many people search for as Botox in Basingstoke, relax the muscles behind frown lines, forehead lines and crow’s feet.
- Lost volume and shape. Dermal fillers restore volume in the cheeks, lips, temples and tear troughs, and Profhilo improves hydration and skin quality.
- Surface tone and texture. Skin peels such as NeoStrata glycolic and Skin Tech TCA peels, and Obagi and ZO skin restoration programmes, target acne, pigmentation, melasma and dullness.
- Deeper texture, scarring and laxity. As a laser clinic in Basingstoke, we use Lynton IPL and lasers for pigmentation, redness, acne and resurfacing, and Focus Dual radiofrequency microneedling and HIFU for firming and scar reduction.
You will rarely need all four. The skill is in choosing the smallest number of treatments that will make the biggest difference to your main concern.
What does a treatment plan look like in practice?
Order matters as much as choice. Prescription skincare often comes first, because it prepares the skin and helps it respond better to peels and lasers. Treatments that cause surface peeling are spaced so the skin has time to recover between sessions. Injectables are usually timed so they have settled before an important event, not the week before.
Here are two typical routes. They are examples only, because your own plan depends on your consultation.
- Acne scarring and uneven tone: a few weeks of prescribed Obagi or ZO skincare to calm active breakouts, then a course of peels, then a course of laser resurfacing or radiofrequency microneedling, with home care continuing throughout.
- Tired-looking face in your 40s: anti-wrinkle injections for frown and forehead lines, a small amount of filler where cheek volume has dropped, and a skin-quality treatment such as Profhilo or IPL skin brightening to improve tone.
How much does a personalised plan cost?
A plan lets you see the full cost up front and spread it over time, rather than paying for single treatments that do not add up to a result. At the time of writing, anti-wrinkle treatment starts at £170 for one area, a NeoStrata glycolic peel is £75 per session, lip augmentation is £290 per 1 ml of filler and Obagi and ZO programmes start from £85. Courses such as peels and radiofrequency microneedling cost less per session than booking each one separately.
Our price list shows current prices. Your doctor will go through the total for your plan before you agree to anything, and you can phase it to suit your budget.
How is your progress reviewed?
A plan is not fixed once it is written. Skin changes with the seasons, hormones, stress and age, and some treatments work better for you than others. We review progress at agreed points, for example two weeks after injectables to check the result has settled, and between sessions in a laser or peel course.
Before-and-after photographs taken in the same light make the changes easier to judge than memory alone. If something is not giving you the result we expected, the plan changes. Over time, many of our patients report that repeated anti-wrinkle treatment lasts a little longer each time, and good home care protects the results of in-clinic treatments.
What should you ask at your first consultation?
- Who will carry out my treatment, and what are their medical qualifications?
- What is causing the concern I came in with, and which treatment targets that cause?
- What result is realistic for my skin, and how long will it last?
- What are the risks and side effects, and what happens if I have a reaction?
- How many sessions will I need, how far apart, and what is the total cost?
- What should I use on my skin at home between appointments?
A clinic that welcomes these questions, and answers them plainly, is one you can trust with your skin.
Frequently Asked
Q: Do I have to commit to the whole plan at my first visit?
A: No. The plan sets out what we recommend and why. You can start with one step and decide on the next once you have seen how your skin responds.
Q: Can I have more than one treatment on the same day?
A: Sometimes, for example anti-wrinkle injections and filler in the same appointment. Other combinations need to be spaced apart, and your doctor will tell you which.
Q: Who are anti-wrinkle injections suitable for?
A: They can work for adults between about 20 and 65. Suitability always depends on your medical history, which is checked at your consultation.
Q: Do laser treatments suit darker skin tones?
A: Lynton treatments can be used on a wide range of skin types and tones, with settings chosen for your skin. Your doctor will confirm which options are safe for you.
